Dr Fiona Monahan qualified from UCC in 1990. Following her intern year in Cork University Hospital, she worked in General Medicine in the UK. There, she trained in General Medicine including Dermatology, Geriatric Medicine, Rheumatology and Respiratory Medicine. She then trained in General Practice in Cambridge, also completing a rotation in Emergency Medicine before returning to Ireland and completing further training in Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

She started working in Medi-group in 1998.

Since she started in Medi-group, she has pursued her interests in all aspects of general practice with particular interest in Female Health including menopause care and crisis pregnancy care, Chronic Disease Management, Mental Health Care and support for vulnerable populations.
