Nurse Máire Barber

Máire qualified from Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin and the North Infirmary, Cork in 1987 as a Registered General Nurse and Registered Sick Children's Nurse and is registered with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland). 

After qualifying Máire worked as a staff nurse in the paediatric unit of the Brompton Hospital, London for 6 months before returning to Cork to work as a staff nurse in the Bon Secours Hospital for almost 10 years and followed this by working as a study nurse on an international research study (PROSPER study) for 5 years.

 

In 2002 Máire started work as a practice nurse in Medigroup. She has a special interest in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Women’s Health Issues, Diabetes Care and Childhood Vaccinations. 

She is very interested in continuous professional development and has attended many lectures and courses. Máire has certificates in Nurse Management, Family Planning and Well Woman Care, Cervical Smear Taking, Basic Life Support, Health Education and has diplomas in Nurse Management of Diabetes in Primary Care and Primary Care Coronary Heart Disease Prevention.
